“I moved to London in 2008 after completing a degree in Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University. I sold my illustrations as a sideline down Brick Lane whilst working as a colour consultant and design manager. In 2015 I moved to Sussex which enabled Blank Inside to grow into a thriving, vibrant illustration studio. My clients include Anthropologie, Oliver Bonas and Octopus Publishing.
I work from my sunny, light-filled studio in the Star Brewery in Lewes. I draw freehand in pencil and then paint my illustrations using watercolours, sometimes combining acrylic and gouache. Blank Inside embodies my love of colour and Nature, and all of my products are created with a quirky sense of humour and desire to bring meaning to people’s lives. In my recent work I've been experimenting with colour on large canvas, to capture an emotion and express it with lightness.
Underlying my work is a commitment to using sustainable materials and reducing the impact on the environment. My collections use cornstarch biodegradable packaging, recycled paper printed with vegetable inks, recycled standard envelopes and one entire range is created from renewable plant-fibre paper, such as bamboo, with envelopes made from recycled coffee cups.”
